Michelle Slaughter Scholarship

Once upon a time, there was a mom of a little girl who decided to put her in dance class. Having danced both as a little girl herself and as an adult as well she knew the value not only physically but socially and emotionally for her daughter. What she didn’t know was it was going to turn into a lifelong passion and career.

Michelle Slaughter was Miss Katie’s mother who passed in June of 2022. She was a loving, supportive and giving person who never questioned when her daughter wanted to major in dance in college to become a dance teacher and eventually a studio owner. She never missed a performance of Miss Katie’s often helping out by taking tickets and running the front of house for first Miss Roseanna and then Miss Katie. She enrolled Miss Katie at Miss Roseanna’s not only due to their reputation but also because they had strong ties to giving back to the community with she believed in whole heartedly as well. In the spirit of this we have established the Michelle Slaughter scholarship fund.

The scholarship fund will help keep for current students dancing when have found themselves in situations that they need financial help. The fund will also help to purchase shoes to keep in our shoe closet that we loan to dancers for free to help offset costs for parents.

To date we have raised just over $3000 and have already been able to help a student with their costs and purchase much needed ballet shoes for the closet. Thank you to all who have donated in her name.
